International harpsichord competition Musica Antiqua
Bruges

Competitions Musica Antiqua

We organize these competitions as a part of our overall vision that wants to bring together professors, instrument builders and young competitors. The didactic, forming, specializing element of these competitions is in our opinion by far the most important aspect of a sound competition.
That is why we also pay attention to the following aspects:
a.The members of the jury must give feedback to the competitors.
b.The programming of model performances by members of the jury or internationally renowned teachers, where theory can be compared to practice.
c.From 2006 on, two three-day masterclasses will take place.
These competitions Musica Antiqua are the most important in the world (in their specific segment). The origin of the competitors only is already a reflection of this: 24 nationalities in 2004, 23 nationalities in 2005.
The programming of the competitions sticks to cycles of three years, each time linking other aspects. (8 days / Festival year)
